Jubilee Ordination, 5th August 2017

Most Rev. Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum has ordained six priests for the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua Diocese in the a priestly ordination ceremony at Pope John Minor Seminary and Senior High School in Koforidua Effiduase on 5th August 2017. The newly ordained priests are Rev. Frs. Callixtus Emmanuel Kwesi Agblevor, Emmanuel Opoku Boateng, Frank Kofi Arthur, Innocent Mensah Bismark Kokobealowe, James Kwasi Yeboah and Kenneth A. Ettuah.

Addressing the thousands of people who congregated to witness the ordination ceremony the Bishop said ‘this is jubilee ordination since it is taking place within the year that the Koforidua Diocese is celebrating her 25 years’.

He thanked the parents, Diocesan Vocations Directorate, Formator, the Diocesan Pastoral Team for the roles they played in the formation of the ordinandi.

In his homily, the Chief-Shepherd said there cannot be enough priests to work in the vineyard of the Lord no matter the number of candidates that are ordained. He therefore pleaded with all and sundry to continually pray to the Lord for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

The prelate of the Diocese, admonished the ordinandi in his homily to perform their priestly ministry after that of Christ. He encouraged them to always put themselves at the service of the people of God. He further reminded them about the need to sacrifice their comfort for the flock. Bishop also mentioned to the congregation the need to support the priests and pray for them.

Below are the appointments of the newly ordained priests. Fr. Callixtus Agblevor: Parochial Vicar, Holy Trinity Parish Agomanya; Fr Emmanuel Opoku Boateng: temporally appointed to Assist at Holy Trinity Parish, Agomanya pending his actual appointment as Parochial Vicar, St John the Baptist Parish, Anyiman;  Fr. Frank Kofi Arthur: Parochial Vicar St Michael Parish, Nkawkaw; Fr. Innocent Kokobealowe: St Andrew Parish Akyem Swedru; Fr. James Yeboah: St Francis of Assis Parish New Tafo Akyem and Fr Kenneth Ettuah: Parochial Vicar St. Theresa Parish, Suhum. All appointments take effect from 9th September,2017.
