HISTORY OF SANTA BARBARA PARISH, AKOSOMBO
LOCATION
Politically, the Santa Barabara parish is located in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern region of Ghana.
BACKGROUND
The Akosombo town was practically uninhabited prior to the commencement of the Volta River Project. The township came into existence as a result of the construction of the Akosombo Dam.
HOLY TRINITY PARISH, AGOMANYA
WHO WE ARE:
Holy Trinity Parish is a catholic community of God’s people, called by Baptism and by Faith in Jesus Christ to live for God and others under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
STATIONS:
There are 18 stations forming the Parish which is within the Lower ManyaKrobo Municipality and Asuogyman District Assembly with the Parish Centre at Agomanya.
On July 6, 1992, the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua was created. This was publicly announced by his Holiness Pope John Paul II (now St. John Paul), through the Papal Bull (an official Church document) Quod iusta quidem, on November 21, 1992. It was the tenth in Ghana, carved from the then Diocese of Accra.
