BISHOP AFRIFAH-AGYEKUM ELECTED VICE PRESIDENT OF RECOWA.

Most Rev. Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum, Bishop of Koforidua Diocese, has been elected as the Vice President of the Regional Episcopal Conference of West Africa (RECOWA) at the just ended 4th General Assembly held from the 2nd-9th May, 2022, in Abuja-Nigeria.

The RECOWA-CERAO comprises 154 Catholic Dioceses spread across 11 Catholic Bishops’ Conferences in 16 countries of Anglophone and Francophone Africa. The 16 countries include Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Guinee, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Mauritania, and Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, and Togo.

Previously, Bishop Afrifah served as the Chairperson of the Biblical, Theological and Liturgical Commission.

Congratulations to the Bishop

On July 6, 1992, the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua was created. This was publicly announced by his Holiness Pope John Paul II (now St. John Paul), through the Papal Bull (an official Church document) Quod iusta quidem, on November 21, 1992. It was the tenth in Ghana, carved from the then Diocese of Accra.
