Larteh

Mary, Queen and Mother Parish was established on December 10, 1924 and it was on this very date that the first baptism was administered at Larteh – Akuapem, by Rev. Fr. J. Stauffer, SVD.

The Parish is situated on the Akuapem ridge which is in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It is made up of a main station which is Mary, Queen and Mother Catholic Church, Larteh and eight (8) outstations. The outstation churches are in the following towns.

1. Kitase

2. Aburi

3. Mampong

4. Akropong

5. Adukrom

6. Apirade

7. Kwamoso

8. Adawso

Sunday Holy Mass at Larteh starts at 7:00 am, but on every last Sunday of the month, Holy Mass at Larteh begins with the praying of Holy Rosary at 7:30 am.

The adult population of the Parish is about 350 and that of the Youth is 150. Currently, we have one (1) priest and fifteen (15) voluntary Catechists helping to take care of the pastoral needs of the Parish.

Presently, the Parish has one (1) major seminarian and two (2) minor seminarians. The main adult society in the Parish is:
Christian Mother’s Association. The youth societies are: Catholic Youth Organisation (CYO) and Nights of the Altar (Mass Servers).
Holy Mass in the outstations begins at 10:00 am. In the absence of the Priest, service without a Priest starts at 9:00 am.
