Unfortunately, since 2019 the programme could not be held because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 3000 students accepted this invitation and gathered under the huge cross, which stands in the centre of the grotto and towered above the heads of the students.
The feast day began with the Stations of the Cross and praying of rosary. At 12 noon, the Holy Mass presided over by the Bishop was celebrated at the Grotto.
In his homily, Bishop Afrifah-Agyekum encouraged the students to prepare well for the upcoming examinations. The focus was on what plan God has for the students. No matter what future awaits the students, it is important to trust in God's grace and to ask him in prayer for his direction. In his exhortation, the Bishop further encouraged the Students to desist from examination malpractices and be disciplined.
At the end of the Mass, Bishop Afrifah-Agyekum blessed all the students for their upcoming final examinations. He also tested the knowledge of the students with a small quiz, which were of course was rewarded with prizes.
It was indeed a joyful celebration in thanksgiving to God for enabling the students to meet at the foot of the cross again to seek the face of the Lord through the intercession of Mary, Our Lady of Good Counsel.
